Seen & Heard acts as a bridge between your school and its alumni, offering confidential wellbeing services and constructive dialogue when it’s most needed.
We have a bank of options and specialists with experience in boarding and independent schools that can support in challenging conversations. This may include finding supportive resources for ex-pupils easily (counselling, therapy, coaching, legal support), advise on communications with abuse survivors in criminal/civil complaints to ensure a victim centred approach is taken, and much more.

Former pupils are powerful advocates – but unresolved issues can become reputational risks. Providing accessible, impartial support shows your school’s commitment to lifelong care and wellbeing.
Under the very challenging circumstances of the school becoming the focus of an investigation into non recent abuses, it is imperative that organisations follow a Victim Centred Code Of Practice inline with current best thinking. These codes of practice are now widely accepted by the Institute of British Insurers, Church of England and British Psychological Society, but still we see far too many cases of an adversarial and unhelpful stance from schools towards complainants.
The moral and commercial priority is to offer all possible forms of understanding and support to those people who may be retraumatised by the unfolding events.
Seen and Heard have access to a wide range of trauma informed professionals, each of whom have been selected by us because of their extensive and specialist experience of supporting those from the independent education sector.

An often overlooked aspect of what can become a long and disturbing process is the support and welfare needs of those employees of the school who must face up to sometimes shocking allegations of events far away in the history of the school. The slow “grinding down” aspect of this work, for which most people have had no training, can be insidious and Seen and Heard are here to provide emotional support, together with calm, practical help, and advice as to the steps that need to be taken to best move the institution forward from such a dark moment.
